President Visit

Today is one of the historic day in my company. After we have been operating for almost 20 years in Malaysia, this is the first time the President actually step foot to our office.

All the while, the President only land in our Asia Pacific HQ which is in S'pore. Never once even bothered to pay a visit to the Malaysia office.

However, today the new President of Asia actually make a visit to our office in Malaysia. Hence, our company had arranged for a lunch for everybody to get to meet and greet the President.

Upon getting the news that the President will visit to our office, the Office Manager is busy setting things up so that everything will be in order. She started with getting a new company signboard which was previously stolen... yes you read correctly, stolen under the nose of the security guard. The security guard company did compensate us but with a cheap one which looks really ugly.

So last week, finally she ordered a new one to be installed. Then, she even arrange cleaning company to wash the carpets. The 2nd and 3rd storey of the company is fully carpeted. Hence, over the years, it is just being vacuum daily by the cleaner lady, but last week, the office manager did actually arrange a cleaning company to shampoo the carpet.

Also, over the week, the electrical supplier was busy working around the office to change and replace all the bulbs and ensure all electrical plugs, cables etc are in good working order.

Not only limited to the office manager, the head of department from the Logistics Department, Mrs. J was also under pressure. News had spread to her that the President's background is in manufacturing / warehousing / logistics, she get so tense that she have personally walk and inspect the warehouse setup multiple times and ensure everything inclusive of the PPE and First Aid Boxes are fully furnished.

Finally, the day have arrived, today just before lunch time, the President arrived to our office and he was given a office and warehouse tour before beginning his meeting with the respective head of departments.

According to the secretary he will be here until Friday evening, only today he will be in the office, tomorrow and day after, he will be going around to meet the major customers and foster business relationship. Hopefully, with his visit here, the company will move towards a better future as now at least we know that our office here is still under his eyes.

Lets hope for the better 2010 and beyond !!
