Today I travel to down south to visit a prospectus customer which had requested us to give a quotation for a system.
Upon reaching site, I was quite annoyed with the attitude of one of our sales team. He is technically speaking "teaching" the customer and telling me how to do our job. He is telling me how to lay the equipments, how to run the cabling and piping etc.
I was like, come on Mr. Money (nickname), you are from our company, can you let the customer speak for himself and telling me what he really wanted and the way he wanted the system to be installed??
I can see that my other colleague that had travelled together with me was annoyed too, however, he was more short fused, he spoke out and telling Mr. Money off.
Then, finally Mr. Money kept his mouth shut and allows the customer to tell me exactly what he wanted.
At times, our colleagues can be a nuisance. He is not only being not helpful at site to allow me to fully understand the scope of supply, instead he gone worse by misleading and giving me wrong information to me.
Therefore, to everyone out there, please be considerate and understanding to your colleagues. Let them do their job properly and allow the customer to talk. Don't be an internal customer and make assumptions that you know everything the customer wanted.
Sometimes, the saying "Silence is Golden" can be really true. The most difficult customer to handle is internal customer. Will you agree?
